What You'll Do
As a Senior Network Engineer, your primary goal is to ensure the reliable, secure, and scalable operation of enterprise network infrastructure across both on‑premises and cloud environments. You will be part of a team responsible for network architecture, deployment, and operational readiness. You will play a key role in ensuring connectivity solutions align with performance, security, and availability requirements.
The ideal candidate combines deep networking expertise with practical experience in cloud networking, compute platforms, and enterprise infrastructure. Success in this role requires deep technical leadership, disciplined execution, and the ability to partner effectively across infrastructure, security, and application teams.
This is a site‑based role, employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day workweek.
The day-to-day
- Design, implement, and support enterprise network solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Deploy and maintain network technologies including routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, and secure remote access solutions.
- Lead network architecture decisions with a focus on scalability, resiliency, and security (high availability, redundancy, segmentation).
- Implement and enforce network security controls including segmentation, zero trust principles, and secure access patterns.
- Support hybrid connectivity models (site‑to‑site VPN, client VPN, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, SD‑WAN).
- Monitor network performance and reliability using observability and telemetry tools; proactively address capacity and performance issues.
- Troubleshoot complex network and cross‑domain infrastructure issues spanning network, compute, and cloud layers.
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation including network diagrams, IP address management (IPAM), standards, and runbooks.
- Partner with security teams on vulnerability remediation, incident response, and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors, ISPs, and internal stakeholders for circuit delivery, installations, and issue resolution.
- Contribute to automation efforts for network provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks.
- Participate in on‑call rotation and support critical incidents and maintenance windows as needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
