Allen Lane are proud to be supporting the London Borough of Camden in their search for a Senior Network Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of London's most ambitious boroughs, playing a key role in supporting and evolving the network infrastructure that underpins critical services for Camden’s residents and staff.
As Camden continues its cloud-first transformation, you'll work alongside the Lead Network Infrastructure Engineer to deliver secure, resilient and high-performing network services across a modern hybrid estate. With significant investment in Microsoft Azure, SD-WAN technologies and the upcoming implementation of Zscaler, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies while contributing to the next phase of Camden's digital journey.
The Role
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will:
- Design, implement and support Camden's enterprise network infrastructure across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the corporate network, ensuring high levels of availability, resilience and performance.
- Deliver network improvement projects, supporting Camden's continued adoption of Microsoft Azure, SD-WAN and modern networking technologies.
- Support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of Zscaler, strengthening secure remote access and Zero Trust capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, acting as a senior technical escalation point within the team.
- Produce and maintain network documentation, designs and operational procedures.
- Work closely with Cloud Infrastructure, Information Security, Architecture and Service Delivery teams to deliver secure, resilient infrastructure solutions.
- Ensure compliance with recognised standards including ISO27001, PCI-DSS and PSN, whilst supporting business continuity and disaster recovery.

Key Skills Required
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will have:
- Experience designing, implementing and supporting enterprise network infrastructure within large, complex environments.
- Strong technical expertise across Cisco Meraki (SD-WAN, LAN & WiFi), Cisco ACI, Palo Alto Firewalls, Microsoft Azure and Zscaler.
- Experience supporting cloud and hybrid networking environments with a strong understanding of modern networking and security principles.
- Knowledge of voice and communications technologies including Microsoft Teams, SIP Trunking and Session Border Controllers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience delivering infrastructure improvements and network optimisation.
- Experience working within highly regulated environments with an understanding of ISO27001, PCI-DSS and PSN standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, PCNSE, Engineering Cisco Meraki Solutions or equivalent would be advantageous.
