Must be eligible for and able to obtain SC Clearance
About the Role
Serco, a global organization with over 50,000 employees, relies on resilient, secure, and high-performing IT services to maintain smooth operations across the UK, Europe, and beyond. We are seeking a proactive, hands-on Senior Network Engineer who thrives on problem-solving and doesn’t wait for direction. This role demands technical depth, common sense, and the confidence to take ownership and drive solutions from start to finish.
You’ll play a key technical leadership role in shaping and evolving Serco’s enterprise network services, encompassing multi-cloud environments, core connectivity, security, and operational delivery. Acting as a technical lead within the Network Service, you’ll collaborate with internal teams, strategic partners, and stakeholders to ensure our infrastructure is secure, scalable, performant, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, engineering configuration, and strategic evolution of Serco’s enterprise network services.
- Design and support secure multi-cloud networking solutions across AWS and Azure environments.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, operational teams, and third-party suppliers to deliver robust network solutions.
- Produce and maintain high-quality architecture documentation, including HLDs, LLDs, and network diagrams.
- Drive continual improvement across network performance, resilience, security, and service adoption.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and develop long-term solutions to support operational teams.
- Develop short- and long-term technology roadmaps to ensure alignment with business needs.
- Support new service introductions through technical analysis, deployment planning, cost modelling, and implementation coordination.
- Ensure network services align with security best practices, including zero-trust principles, and remain compliant in government/regulated environments.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships with suppliers, business teams, and operational partners across a large matrix organization.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
