Senior Network Engineer - 6 months Contract – £500/day via umbrella company – hybrid Shropshire – SCC FLEX CONTRACT
We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, development and delivery of enterprise network and telephony solutions in support of a major digital transformation programme. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical work, supported by junior engineers for implementation tasks. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in modern network technologies, security, and telephony systems, with the ability to drive complex change across a large-scale environment.
Your responsibilities as a Senior Network Engineer:
- Lead the architectural design and implementation of enterprise network and telephony solutions.
- Shape and drive network strategy, ensuring alignment with digital transformation objectives.
- Oversee the delivery of network migrations, technology upgrades and infrastructure modernisation.
- Design and implement secure network architectures, including firewalls, NAC, routing and switching.
- Lead the deployment and optimisation of telephony solutions (physical and softphone).
- Provide technical leadership to junior engineers, guiding hands-on delivery where required.
- Manage multiple concurrent network and telephony projects through to completion.
- Identify, assess and manage risks within the network and telephony domain.
- Ensure all solutions meet security, performance and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.

As a suitable Senior Network Engineer, you will have:
- Proven experience as a senior network engineer with architectural responsibilities.
- Strong background designing and implementing enterprise-scale network and telephony solutions.
- Hands-on expertise across enterprise networking and telephony technologies, including FreeRADIUS, Aruba Networking, Aruba ClearPass, Cisco and Fortigate firewalls.
- Experience implementing and supporting telephony platforms.
- Expertise in network access control, firewall design, routing, switching and secure network architecture.
- Experience delivering technology change, migrations and modernisation programmes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and high-quality delivery.
- Strong understanding of risk management within network and telephony environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
