Senior Network Engineer
Morae Global Corporation is seeking a highly technical, hands-on Senior Network Engineer to own and manage the switching, routing, and firewall infrastructure across six global data centres. This critical 24/7/365 high-availability role underpins Morae’s eDiscovery hosting platform and on-premises hosting revenue.
About the Role
You will be instrumental in the Data Centre Modernisation Programme, replacing outdated core Cisco routers and switches with new Cisco Nexus 9300, Catalyst 9200, and Catalyst 8300 platforms. The ideal candidate will excel in diagnosing and resolving complex network issues independently, with proven expertise in troubleshooting enterprise-grade Cisco networks—preferential over certifications alone.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Troubleshooting
- Act as the primary technical authority for data centre networking (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Independently resolve complex outages, performance degradations, and connectivity issues across six global data centres.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and produce detailed post-incident reports with remediation actions.
- Proactively monitor network health using SNMP, syslog, Cisco FMC, and enterprise tools to prevent service disruptions.
- Maintain and execute daily routing/switching/firewall runbooks.
Data Centre Network Refresh Programme
- Lead design, configuration, testing, and deployment of new Cisco Nexus 9300/9200/8300 infrastructure.
- Develop cutover plans, runbooks, and rollback procedures for site refreshes.
- Ensure seamless migration with zero/minimal downtime.

Firewall & Security
- Manage Cisco Firepower 4115 HA pairs (FMC) across UK, US, and Switzerland.
- Design and maintain firewall rules, NAT policies, VPN tunnels, and DMZ architectures.
- Ensure ISO 27001 and SOC 2 compliance for network security controls.
WAN & Office Connectivity
- Support Azure vWAN and IPsec VPN troubleshooting between Meraki offices and data centres.
- Collaborate with the EUC teams for Meraki network issues.
Change & Configuration Management
- Follow ITIL-aligned change management processes.
- Maintain accurate network documentation (topologies, IPAM, config backups).
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) reviews.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work with VMware, storage, and security teams for multi-layer integration.
- Mentor junior engineers on Cisco technologies and automation.
- Identify opportunities for network task automation (Python, Ansible, PowerShell).
Technical Environment
The role demands expertise in:
- Switching: Nexus 9300 (NX-OS 10.x), Catalyst 9200 (IOS-XE)
- Routing: Catalyst 8300 (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS), MPLS
- Firewalls: Firepower 4115 HA, Cisco FMC (NAT, DMZ)
- WAN/Cloud: Azure vWAN, IPsec VPNs, Cisco Umbrella
- Office Net: Meraki MX, Switches, Wireless APs
- Virtualisation: VMware (vSphere, vCenter, distributed switches)
- Storage: Pure Storage, Dell SAN (Isilon, PowerScale)
- Monitoring: SNMP, Syslog, VMware Aria, alerting platforms
- Compliance: ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Proficiencies
- 5+ years in multi-site Cisco data centre networking (VLANs, Spanning Tree, port-channels, MPLS).
- Expert-level NX-OS (Nexus 9000) and IOS-XE (Catalyst 9000 series).
- Firepower/FMC HA firewall administration (VLANs, NAT, VPN).
- BGP/OSPF proficiency (policy routing, route optimisation).
- Python/PowerShell scripting for automation.
- Azure vWAN/IPsec experience preferred.
Certifications (Preferred Over Certs Alone)
- Required: CCNP Enterprise (or equivalent demonstrated expertise)
- Desirable:
- CCIE Enterprise (or progress)
- Cisco DevNet Associate
- Cisco Firepower Specialist
- Microsoft Azure Network Engineer (AZ-700)
Soft Skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during critical incidents.
- Independent problem-solver with documentation/change communication strengths.
- Willingness to on-call and travel (24/7 support for DC modernisation).
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid: Minimum 2 hybrid days/week in London; occasional travel to UK, US, Switzerland for deployments.
