Position Details

  • Position Type: Contract (Inside IR35)
  • Duration: 6 Months
  • Location: Bradford, UK (2–3 days onsite per week)
  • Day Rate: £350 GBP/Day

About the Role

The Sr. Network Security Engineer reports to the Sr. Manager Network Security within the IT Business Unit. This role is critical to designing, maintaining, and optimizing global network security systems, ensuring they align with industry-leading standards, methodologies, and best practices.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Implementing secure network architectures and solutions.
  • Performing technology and operational risk assessments, identifying gaps and problematic configurations.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to remediate security issues.
  • Driving security awareness and advising on secure operational practices across IT and the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop secure, scalable network security frameworks.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks Firewalls & Prisma Access.
  • Enforce network security policies and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Work with teams to resolve security incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Promote secure operational practices through awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with security and IT teams to improve overall network resilience.

Technical Requirements

Mandatory Skills

  • Advanced expertise in:
    • Securing and managing Palo Alto Networks Firewalls & Prisma Access.
    • Network security standards, best practices, and methodologies.
    • Identifying network-based vulnerabilities, threats, and risks.
  • 5+ years of experience in network security operations design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Networking protocols and services.
    • Advanced Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with:
    • Forescout NAC, F5 Web Application Firewall (WAF), or Cloudflare.
    • Secure routing & switching.
    • Scripting, automation, and orchestration.
    • Threat hunting techniques.
    • Cisco ISE & RADIUS authentication.
    • Data centre segmentation.
    • Network authentication methodologies (Preshared Keys, certificates, SAML, etc.).

Competencies

  • Security mindset with deep knowledge of security principles and best practices.
  • Strong English communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Fellowship of security certifications (e.g., CISSP, GIAC, CEH).
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously with minimal guidance.
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, organising and time-management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities in high-pressure environments.
