Senior Network Site Reliability Engineer (NetSRE) - United Kingdom
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Network Site Reliability Engineer (NetSRE) based in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity to help build and operate the network foundation powering next-generation AI infrastructure at global scale. In this engineering-focused role, you will improve reliability, automation, and operational excellence across complex network environments. You will define reliability standards, build tools that make systems safer to operate, and help teams deliver highly available services. Working alongside experienced infrastructure and platform engineers, you will solve challenging problems across networking, observability, and distributed systems. This role offers significant ownership, technical depth, and the opportunity to influence how large-scale AI infrastructure is designed and maintained. Accountabilities
- Define and own reliability objectives for critical network services, including service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs), availability targets, and operational performance metrics.
- Drive reliability improvements across network infrastructure, including services, site readiness, data center interconnectivity, and operational standards.
- Lead incident response activities, conduct technical investigations, manage postmortems, and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring issues.
- Build and enhance observability capabilities through meaningful metrics, logging, tracing, alerting systems, and improved debugging workflows.
- Design and implement safer network change processes using automation, CI/CD practices, testing environments, staged deployments, rollbacks, and audit mechanisms.
- Collaborate with network engineers and platform teams to improve system operability and ensure infrastructure designs support reliable operations.
- Develop and maintain automation tools and operational software to improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency across network environments.

Requirements
- Strong experience with production Linux environments and a structured approach to troubleshooting complex technical systems.
- Solid understanding of networking principles, including control plane and data plane concepts, latency, packet loss, and failure domains.
- Proven experience operating and improving highly available systems in production environments.
- Ability to write and maintain automation software, with experience in programming languages such as Go or Python.
- Experience with modern infrastructure practices, including infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, and operational automation.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams in a fast-paced, international environment.
- Experience with high-throughput networking systems, load balancing, tunneling, NAT64, datapath optimization, eBPF/XDP, DPDK, kernel networking, or large-scale observability platforms is considered an advantage.
