About the Role
As a News Taxonomist (Senior Data Discovery and Enrichment Expert I), you will shape how global news and business content is structured, discovered, and understood. Leveraging advanced taxonomy frameworks and AI-supported workflows, you’ll enhance classification accuracy, content relevance, and insight generation across LexisNexis products.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain taxonomy structures across subjects, industries, geographies, people, and events
- Create and refine classification rules, including synonyms, variants, and scope guidance, using proprietary systems
- Review and revise classification to optimise precision and recall
- Analyse global news and business content to identify emerging topics and ensure taxonomy relevance
- Research and define new concepts, prioritising clarity and consistency
- Utilise AI tools to support taxonomy workflows, assessing outputs for quality and accuracy
- Contribute to standards, documentation, and best practices
Requirements
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in library, information, or knowledge-focused work
- Strong interest in global news, current events, business, economics, or geopolitics
- Excelllent research skills and aptitude for absorbing unfamiliar topics rapidly
- Strong linguistic command, including the ability to discern subtle conceptual nuances
- Attention to detail and consistency in classification work
- Deep understanding of AI capabilities and ethical deployment principles
- Customer-centric mindset
- Experience in:
- Taxonomy development
- Metadata management
- Content classification
- Good technical ability and adaptability to proprietary taxonomy systems
- knowledge of Agile methodologies
- Fluency in additional languages (preferred)
- Experience working in remote or distributed team environments
