This successful food manufacturer supplies specialist products to the foodservice sector and food manufacturing businesses throughout the UK. With a strong reputation in its niche market, the business is known for its customer-focused approach, quality standards, and commitment to innovation.

About the Senior NPD Technologist

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will lead the NPD team, driving innovation and managing the complete product development process from concept through to successful launch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the NPD process, leading projects from initial concept to successful commercial launch.
  • Ensure customer briefs are managed efficiently, delivering products to the highest standards while meeting agreed objectives, quality expectations, and timescales.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted partner throughout the product development journey.
    • Understand customer needs and present innovative concepts via presentations.
    • Support successful product launches while identifying opportunities to grow existing business and develop new partnerships.
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure a seamless transition from development to launch.
  • Monitor market trends, consumer insights, and competitor activity to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Drive innovation and help shape the future product pipeline.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the NPD team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and continuous improvement.
  • Inspire high performance and ensure the team consistently delivers outstanding results.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • A degree in Food Science/Nutrition or equivalent qualifications.
  • Alternative consideration: Full industry experience will be taken into account.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in NPD within the food manufacturing sector, preferably in a team leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A full UK driver’s license.

Job Details

  • Salary Range: £37,000 to £42,000, depending on experience.
  • Location: London (commutable from Tottenham, Walthamstow, Cheshunt, Hertford, St Albans, Epping, Harlow, Enfield, and surrounding areas).
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday.
