Astute’s Nuclear Team is partnering with a leading engineering consultancy delivering complex projects across the defence and nuclear sectors to recruit a Senior Nuclear Safety Case Professional to support a portfolio of major nuclear projects across the UK, based out of their offices in Bristol.
The strategically important Senior Nuclear Safety Case Professional role comes with a salary of £70,000 – £100,000, flexible hybrid working, private healthcare, bonus scheme, and excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Responsibilities and Duties
Reporting to the Nuclear Safety Leadership Team you will:
- Lead and deliver nuclear safety case projects across civil and defence nuclear programmes.
- Develop and execute strategies to address complex nuclear safety challenges.
- Undertake and lead safety assessments, risk assessments, hazard identification studies, fault schedules, and design basis analyses.
- Support probabilistic safety assessments and the development of safety functional requirements.
- Conduct periodic reviews of safety for nuclear facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Support the qualification and substantiation of systems against nuclear safety requirements.
- Undertake internal and external hazards assessments.
- Develop and maintain safety cases for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
- Author, review, and verify safety-related documentation.
- Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and provide mentorship to junior consultants and engineers.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development activities.
- Support the winning and delivery of new work across the nuclear sector.
- Ensure project delivery to agreed time, cost, and quality objectives.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Demonstrable 10+ years of civil nuclear or defence nuclear infrastructure experience.
- A Degree, Master’s or PhD in a relevant STEM subject.
- Strong experience and understanding of:
- The UK regulatory regime for nuclear safety cases and safety management.
- Nuclear safety case requirements, processes, terminology, and documentation.
- Safety analysis and safety justification methods as they are used in the nuclear industry.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel and spend time at client sites when required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain UK security clearance.

Salary and Benefits
Salary of £70,000 – £100,000 depending on experience.
