The Role: Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer, Advanced Engineering Delivery & Consultancy (AEDC)
As a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer, you'll play a vital role in shaping your projects. Working alongside talented colleagues across all disciplines, you’ll:
- Provide safety case leadership, support and delivery.
- Collaborate closely with clients to develop and implement solutions for their most complex problems.
While your office base will be in Glasgow, flexibility in work location will be a must—clients may occasionally require work to be delivered on-site.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll be involved in all aspects of safety case support, including:
- Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy.
- Working closely with project partners to ensure a safety-informed design.
- Engaging with stakeholders (including designers, clients, site teams, and regulatory bodies such as DNSRB and ONR) to enable ‘Right First Time’ delivery.
- Undertaking safety assessments and analyses (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, HAZAN).
- Producing safety reports and technical documents (e.g., PSR, PCSR, ALARP reports).
- Supporting Engineering Substantiation activities.
- Managing/leading Safety Case activities and teams.

About You
You’ll bring a proven track record in safety, ideally within the defence and nuclear domain (or other highly regulated industries). You’ll be ready to take the next step in your career and thrive in a team that fosters growth and development.

Essential Qualifications:
- Honours Degree (2:1 minimum) in physics, mechanical engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Chartered status (or actively working towards it).
- Technical expertise in the Nuclear/Defence domains, including:
- Demonstrating engineering judgement.
- Applying fundamental engineering principles effectively.
