Senior Nurse in Prison Healthcare – HMP Swaleside

You will provide high-quality primary care services and a range of specialist interventions for offenders while working within the nurse-led integrated primary care service at HMP Swaleside. The role operates under a specialist practice-based clinical model of care.

About the Role

  • Maintain an effective case management system to ensure continuity of care and treatment consistency throughout patient pathways whilst detained in prison.
  • Deliver clinics and consultations in a timely and clinically effective manner.
  • Implement strategies to promote health, prevent disease, and improve overall well-being within the prison environment.

As part of the Healthcare Team, you will:

  • Work as a senior member of staff, coordinating daily operations.
  • Support junior colleagues and clinical supervision activities.
  • Foster a sense of a community within the prison, offering:
    • Urgent care
    • Routine health screening (similar to a GP practice)
    • Complex care management

“I see the prison as an individual community where I work with a variety of people... I have the unique opportunity to support someone throughout their time in prison and make a significant difference to their lives.” Ellen, Clinical Lead, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
