Job Title: Senior Nurse (End-of-Life Care) – Permanent (Part-Time) – Cardiff & Vale Hospice & Community

About Marie Curie

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care, delivering community nursing and hospice services across all four nations:

  • Enabling meaningful conversations about preferences and wishes
  • Delivering holistic assessments, advanced care planning, and care coordination for those nearing the end of life
  • Advocating for systemic change to ensure everyone receives compassionate, quality care in their final days

Currently, only 10% of dying people in the UK receive the care they deserve. We aim to close this gap over the next five years through:

  • Expanding and transforming our direct care and support
  • Providing practical guidance and emotional support for patients and families
  • Leadership in shaping a better end-of-life experience for all

Key Responsibilities

Patient & Care Coordination

  • Proactively identify patients nearing the end of life and facilitate compassionate ward discussions about their wishes and goals.
  • Conduct holistic assessments to fast-track appropriate care and treatment plans, including advance care planning and treatment escalation agreements.
  • Collaborate with Hospitals’ discharge teams, palliative care specialists, and multi-disciplinary care providers to ensure safe, timely discharge to optimal care settings.
  • Work closely with our Hospice Care at Home Service to facilitate community-based transitions, ensuring Marie Curie’s resources are utilised effectively.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with Health Boards’ teams, loved ones, and existing care networks to implement personalised care plans.
  • Advocate for explaining policies, resources, and euthanasia (correct terms replaced) care pathways to promote inclusivity.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to patients and their families (so they can focus compassion care only) navigating care options.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
