About The Role
As a Senior Nurse (General) at a Barchester care home, you’ll use your leadership skills to ensure our residents receive the quality care we’re known for. You’ll act as a hands-on clinical leader, fostering a safe and supportive environment for residents with diverse mental and physical needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Using professional judgement to make critical clinical decisions, such as assessing new residents’ needs and implementing safeguarding policies and medication administration under NMC regulations.
- developing, reviewing, and implementing care plans.
- administering medicines in compliance with current guidelines.
- Mentoring and training your team to deliver high standards of nursing care.
- Enjoying the freedom, autonomy, and recognition for expertise in your field.

About You
To succeed as a Senior Nurse (General), you must meet or exceed the following:
Qualifications & Registration
- Be a Registered Nurse (RGN) with a current NMC registration.
- Hold a mentoring or clinical supervision qualification.
Experience & Expertise
- Proven experience creating care plans and detailed risk assessments.
- Strong understanding of current clinical practices, regulatory frameworks, including:
- DoLs (Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
- MCA (Mental Capacity Act)
- Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidelines
- Demonstrated experience as a clinical mentor, supporting newly qualified nurses through preceptorship.
