Company Description
Attendance Allowance Services (AAS) is dedicated to helping pensioners in the UK secure the Attendance Allowance benefit, supporting dignified living and improved financial security. AAS offers a specialised, fee-based service that simplifies the application process for individuals of pensionable age who need support with personal care due to physical or mental health conditions. The service includes an initial free eligibility assessment aligned with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) criteria, followed by a comprehensive needs analysis of daily living and care requirements. AAS provides detailed assistance in completing the DWP’s 32-page application form, ensuring applicants’ health conditions and functional limitations are clearly documented. Operating on a contingency fee basis, AAS charges only when applications are successful, with fees taken from backdated DWP payments.
Role Description
The Senior Occupational Therapist will work on a contract, remote basis to assess the functional abilities and care needs of pension-age clients seeking Attendance Allowance. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Conducting in-depth virtual or telephone assessments
- Reviewing medical and social histories
- Evaluating clients’ ability to perform activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility
- Translating clinical findings into clear, accessible reports that inform eligibility assessments and support accurate completion of Attendance Allowance application forms
- Collaborating with AAS staff to ensure documentation aligns with DWP criteria
- Providing guidance on rehabilitation and adaptive strategies
- Communicating sensitively with clients, caregivers, and external stakeholders
This position requires consistent adherence to professional standards, data protection regulations, and ethical practice.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Occupational Therapy, with experience in assessing functional abilities, daily living activities, and support needs.
- Knowledge of Medicine and Rehabilitation principles relevant to older adults, chronic conditions, and long-term care planning.
- Strong Communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings clearly to clients, caregivers, and non-clinical colleagues.
- Experience working with older adults; exposure to Pediatrics or lifespan practice is beneficial for understanding diverse care needs.
- Current professional registration or licensure as an Occupational Therapist (or equivalent), in good standing.
- Experience with remote assessments and documentation in health or social care settings, including secure electronic record-keeping.
- Familiarity with UK social security or disability benefits systems, particularly Attendance Allowance or similar benefits, is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and the ability to align clinical information with formal assessment criteria.
- Ability to work independently under contract arrangements, manage caseloads efficiently, and maintain high standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
