Sandwell Council’s Adult Social Care Division is seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Occupational Therapist to help deliver an outstanding customer experience that promotes wellbeing, independence, and quality of life within local communities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership and specialist advice on adaptations, equipment provision, and independent living solutions for vulnerable adults, children, and carers.
You will support Occupational Therapy Assistants, undertake holistic assessments, recommend cost-effective and appropriate equipment, and work collaboratively with partners to ensure high-quality outcomes for service users. The role focuses on enabling people to remain safe, independent, and confident in their own homes for as long as possible, preventing or delaying the need for more intensive support.
The role:
- Conduct holistic assessments and develop person-centred solutions to support independence.
- Provide specialist clinical advice on adaptations, equipment, and assistive technology.
- Support and mentor Occupational Therapy Assistants within the team.
- Work collaboratively with health, social care, and community partners.
- Ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with legislation, safeguarding, and data protection requirements.
- Promote best practice, service improvement, and positive outcomes for vulnerable adults, children, and carers.
- Enable individuals to retain or regain skills, confidence, and control over their lives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
