An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled, motivated Band 7 OT to join the Medicine Therapy Team at UHLG.

You will be based at Aintree University Hospital and will be responsible for driving the OT service within Medicine as well as supporting the B7 Physiotherapists to lead the team. Specialties include Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Diabetes and Respiratory as well as general medical wards. You should have a strong clinical background, knowledge and skills acquired across a variety of settings. Experience in medical settings is essential.

The role is patient and non-patient facing and you should have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills. You will be part of a high functioning MDT, which includes a supportive team of Band 7 staff, providing specialist clinical contribution to the patient journey with high level assessment and treatment planning for complex medical patients.

You must have strong leadership, people management and supervision skills. You will be required to demonstrate a commitment to service development, audit and research.

We are committed to staff development; you will have access to peer support and supervision from the Therapy Management Team and other Band 7 peers across the Trust. You will be supported to attend courses and training including leadership development.

You will have a key role in high level clinical assessment, treatment planning, reasoning, risk identification and problem solving to enable patients to optimise functional independence, avoid admission or reduce length of stay and to support patient discharge at the earliest safe opportunity and to minimise the risk of re-admission.

To manage, train, appraise and supervise Band 6 Occupational Therapist, Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Students, Therapy Assistants, Work Experience and Healthcare Cadets under the guidance of Therapy Managers and Clinical Specialists

The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of the wider team as well as with other external agencies.

Staff are required to work flexibly and shift patterns over an extended working day.

Flexible working patterns may be considered.
