Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist – Mental Health (Thurrock, Brentwood, Basildon)
Job Overview
Our Adults Community Mental Health teams across Thurrock, Brentwood, and Basildon are seeking an enthusiastic Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join a friendly, supportive team dedicated to delivering high-quality, recovery-focused care for adults with complex mental health needs.
This role sits within a multidisciplinary environment that prioritises collaboration, compassion, and professional growth. You’ll receive regular supervision, peer support, and ongoing development opportunities, playing a key role in shaping clinical excellence and team culture.
As a senior clinician, you’ll manage a complex and varied caseload, offering evidence-based occupational therapy through one-to-one and group interventions. You’ll contribute to risk assessment and treatment planning while supporting junior staff and students with supervision and mentorship.
We’re looking for a confident, motivated, and passionate professional with the skills to work autonomously while fostering a positive and developmental team culture, aligned with service improvement.
Main Duties
- Clinical Assessment & Treatment Planning
- Conduct holistic evaluations and utilise specialist assessments for complex mental health presentations.
- Determine the appropriate level and type of intervention for each patient, ensuring personalised, recovery-focused care.
- Develop and communicate detailed treatment plans with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.

Collaborative Practice
- Engage with multidisciplinary teams and partner agencies, sharing care plans at formal and informal meetings.
- Contribute to service development, supporting activities of daily living (ADL) assessments while maintaining high clinical reasoning standards.

Leadership & Supervision
- Provide supervision and guidance to junior Occupational Therapists and students.
- Lead by example, embodying professional practice, compassion, and collaborative care.
