Band 6 Occupational Therapist Specialist Eating Disorders Unit (SEDU) – Kimmeridge Court, Poole, Dorset
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Eating Disorders Unit (SEDU) at Kimmeridge Court, Poole. This is a full-time role, though part-time applications will be considered.
Our inpatient unit provides specialist care for adults with eating disorders, delivering evidence-based, person-centred treatment to support recovery, independence, and meaningful engagement in daily life. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a critical role in assessment and intervention, helping individuals achieve functional recovery during their inpatient stay and prepare for a smooth transition back to the community.
Collaborating with nursing, medical, psychology, and dietetic colleagues, your responsibilities include:
- Conducting occupation-focused assessments
- Delivering individual and group interventions
- Contributing to therapeutic programmes
- Supporting discharge planning

Core Work
- Deliver specialist, person-centred occupational therapy, including:
- Assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations
- Evidence-based interventions for self-care, daily living, productivity, and meaningful activity
- Support skills development to promote independence and autonomy
- Work collaboratively with:
- Service users and carers
- Multidisciplinary teams (nursing, psychology, dietetics, medicine)
- Focus on safe admission, therapeutic engagement, and discharge planning
Programme Delivery
- Design, deliver, and contribute to structured occupational therapy programmes
- Develop specialist programmes (where applicable) for delivery by other professionals
Clinical and Safety Responsibilities
- Assess and manage clinical and environmental risk
- Ensure patient safety while complying with legal, professional, and organisational standards
- Demonstrate clinical effectiveness through:
- Outcome measures
- Audit activity
- Reflective practice
Administrative and Professional Tasks
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with Trust and professional standards
- Engage in:
- Clinical supervision
- CPD activities
- Audit or research where relevant
