An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our recently launched Specialist Community Forensic Team (Berkshire) on a 6 month fixed-term basis (maternity cover).
About the Role
The Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT) supports service users to transition from low and medium secure settings into the community, improving outcomes and quality of life.
This is done by providing assessment, treatment, and risk management for individuals with complex mental health needs and forensic histories living in the community. The team aims to support recovery while promoting public safety and reducing reoffending.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in the Forensic Service at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Provide high-quality, recovery-focused Occupational Therapy interventions for individuals with complex mental health needs and offending histories
- Support patients to identify meaningful routines and structure
- Conduct functional ability assessments and support individuals in engaging in enriching and meaningful occupations
- Use the Model of Human Occupation to guide your practice, to assess ADLs, cognition, and social functioning
- Provide clinical input, expertise, and assessment alongside the Inpatients OTs in supporting a patient transition into the Community
- Develop Life Skills, relapse prevention, and vocational support
- Provide supervision and leadership to junior staff OTs and support Occupational Therapy students on placement within the SCFT
- Contribute to service delivery and engage with the process of audits
