Senior Occupational Therapist
Lead Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics (Special School)
Location: Tadworth Role Type: Permanent Salary: £60,000
The Role
Cpl UK Healthcare are currently recruiting for a Band 8 Lead Occupational Therapist to join an SEN School in Tadworth, working within a specialist school for children and young people aged 4–19 with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and associated complex needs.
Details
This is a senior leadership role providing both clinical and service leadership across the occupational therapy provision within a specialist educational setting.
You will:
- Oversee the delivery of evidence-based interventions
- Support staff development
- Contribute to whole-school therapeutic approaches
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the occupational therapy service within the school
- Provide clinical supervision and leadership to therapy and support staff
- Oversee a complex paediatric caseload (ASD and challenging behaviours)
- Develop and implement school-wide therapeutic strategies and frameworks
- Support EHCP planning, reviews, and multi-agency coordination
- Deliver specialist assessments and intervention planning
- Provide training and guidance to education staff and families
- Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure high standards of clinical governance and documentation

Requirements
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
- Significant experience in paediatric OT, particularly in ASD and SEN settings
- Previous leadership or senior practitioner experience (Band 7/8 equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of autism, sensory integration, and behavioural approaches
- Experience working within multidisciplinary educational teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
