Nelson House has an opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team.
Located in Gosport, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Nelson House is a rehabilitation service which offers both level 1 and level 2 care, supporting males presenting with mental health conditions and complex needs, who may also have behaviours that challenge and substance misuse issues.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.
- Lead the assessment, treatment, and evaluation of patients with complex physical, neurological, or mental health needs, developing person-centred care plans to maximise independence and quality of life.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior occupational therapists, support staff, and students, promoting high standards of practice and professional development.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with patients, families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate effective and timely care.
- Carry out specialist assessments for equipment, adaptations, moving and handling, and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and reduce the risk of hospital readmission.
- Maintain accurate clinical records, contribute to service improvement initiatives, and ensure practice complies with professional standards, legislation, and organisational policies.

What you'll bring to the role
Essential for the role – Senior Occupational Therapist
Candidates must be HCPC registered and hold a Diploma in Occupational Therapy, or a degree, honours degree, or Master’s in Occupational Therapy, or have completed formal postgraduate study (award or non-award bearing). They must also have prior experience working in mental health services as a qualified member of staff, experience supervising Occupational Therapists or Occupational Therapy Assistants and students, and training in relevant models of practice such as MoHO, VdTMoCA, and Sensory Integration.
