Base salary: £54,878 to c.£69,727pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 20% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.
Location: Birmingham or London

Role Overview
As Senior Overhead Contact System (OCS) Engineer, you’ll provide technical and professional support to the Lead OCS Engineer for the discipline by:
- Providing guidance on the OCS system to internal and external stakeholders
- Providing assurance that the OCS contractor design and construction deliverables meet project requirements.
- Working to resolve issues where appropriate.
About the Role
- Engaging stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach for development of engineering solutions.
- Providing technical assurance for the Overhead contact system discipline by ensuring correct application of requirements and specifications already contracted.
- Working closely with the wider engineering, technical and commercial disciplines.
- Contributing to the management of technical risk for Overhead contact system engineering works.
- Establish reports and technical documents.
- Reviewing and providing OCS layout drawings.
- Attending any OCS related discipline meetings.
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
About You
Skills:
- Able to provide specialist technical support and leadership on discipline-specific scientific, technical, and engineering principles to project development / delivery teams but knowing when to seek further guidance from other Subject Matter Expert or others.
- Ability to communicate most discipline-specific technical ideas to colleagues, based largely on examples of application.
- Ability to apply many principles relating to standards, safety and the environment and able to articulate the rest.
- Applies principles and methods that ensure effective information management, modelling and data security; understands the approaches and consequences to data creation, transformation and visualisation and knowing when to seek guidance from other Subject Matter Expert and others.

Knowledge:
- Applicable UK construction regulations including CDM requirements.
- The application of the Common Safety Method (CSM) for risk evaluation and assessment.
- Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
- Knowledge restricted to own discipline.
Type of Experience:
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering and safety standards, activity on large complex major projects/ programmes within a complex infrastructure delivery programme.
- Experience of managing competing project and engineering demands, with cost and schedule implications.
