Job Description

In your role as a Senior OLE Engineer, you will provide technical expertise on projects, ensuring the effective deployment of technical resources to meet complex programme milestones. You will be responsible for the delivery of technically robust, high-quality electrification solutions within either a multi-disciplinary rail environment or a single discipline element.

Egis pride ourselves on our adaptability to be able to work all scales of projects from major multi-disciplinary design schemes to emergency repairs of damaged OLE structures so the ability to be adaptable and flexible is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production/checking and leadership of OLE allocation design at feasibility, scheme and detailed design stages, working closely with principal and junior designers
  • Production/checking of deliverables including layout plans, cross sections, switching diagrams, bridge designs and bonding plans
  • Work in accordance with all relevant railway industry, client, railway group, and technical standards
  • Production/checking of accurate, clear, high quality technical reports and specifications in English
  • Production/checking of Isolation documentation
  • Operate under nominal supervision for the majority of the work ensuring the production of deliverables to agreed deadlines and within budget
  • Delivery of target project outcomes for technical quality, cost, fee, programme and repeat business
  • Proactive management of own time; and attendance at design team meetings
  • Undertaking site surveys / site visits where required
  • Delivery of robust forecasts for design delivery and tender estimates
  • Day to day liaison internally with project manager and wider multi-disciplinary delivery team
  • Feed into programme, progress updates, and document control systems as required
  • Change and risk management

Technical Leadership:

  • Leading OLE design projects and integrating with engineering teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Resource Management:

  • Managing the workload of Engineers, Technicians and Apprentices efficiently to ensure both technical and programme requirements are met.

Commercial Oversight:

  • Managing budgets, forecasting costs/hours assessments for your specific OLE work packages.

Supply Chain Management:

  • Supervising specialist contractors to ensure seamless delivery.

Multi-Disciplinary Integration:

  • Collaborating with Track, Civils, and Signalling leads to deliver a fully integrated rail system.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree qualified with 10 a minimum of years experience
  • Knowledge of relevant railway industry, group and technical engineering standards
  • Proficient user of industry standard tools such as AutoCAD and/or Microstation and Microsoft Office packages

Desired

  • Chartered in their specialist area e.g. RailEI, IMechE, IET or working towards
  • Knowledge and/or experience of OLE construction methods and installation techniques
