The Great Barr Hotel is a hospitality-focused property known for its attention to detail and customer-centered service, creating a warm and friendly guest experience. The hotel offers 92 elegant bedrooms and 10 flexible conference suites, catering to both leisure and business guests. Guests enjoy amenities such as free Wi‑Fi, a contemporary Bar Brasserie, and complimentary on-site parking. Located near the M5 and M6 motorways, N.E.C, Birmingham Airport, and Birmingham City Centre, the hotel is strategically positioned for convenient access and regional events.
Role Description
The Senior Operation Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Birmingham, responsible for overseeing the daily operations across the hotel’s accommodation, food and beverage, and conference facilities. This role ensures high standards of guest service, operational efficiency, and adherence to health and safety and quality procedures. The Senior Operation Manager will lead and develop department managers and teams, manage staffing levels and scheduling, and support training and performance management. The role includes monitoring financial performance, optimizing revenue opportunities, and controlling costs in collaboration with senior leadership. The Senior Operation Manager will also handle escalated guest issues, support event and conference delivery, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and strategic planning.

- Proven experience in hotel operations management, ideally in a multi-department property with rooms, conferences, and food and beverage.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including team development, performance management, and coaching.
- Solid understanding of hospitality service standards, guest experience best practices, and complaint resolution.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial metrics, manage budgets, and support revenue and cost-control strategies.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with guests, team members, and senior stakeholders.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk management, and operational compliance within a hotel setting.
- Proficiency with hotel management systems, reservation platforms, and common office software.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
- Relevant qualification in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
