Senior Operational Excellence Consultant - Insurance

Senior Operational Excellence Consultant - based London or Manchester (Hybrid)

Our Client is a leading specialist commercial insurance provider and is currently seeking a Senior Operational Excellence Consultant to support the enhancement of operational performance across the organisation.

Position Overview The Senior Operational Excellence Consultant will own the operating model, strengthening process efficiency, and supporting strategic initiatives across Underwriting Operations. The role will drive continuous improvement and ensure robust performance monitoring and compliance with core principles, procedures, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Implement recognised Operational Excellence methodologies to drive continuous improvement across the organisation. Lead operational excellence initiatives and oversee end‑to‑end delivery of process optimisation workstreams. Conduct analytical assessments to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for increased operational efficiency. Develop and maintain a comprehensive control framework and reporting oversight for Underwriting Operations. Collaborate with the broader organisation to improve data quality, completeness, and alignment with portfolio management and performance reporting requirements. Partner with leadership to identify cost‑benefit opportunities and process enhancements. Work with the Business Change team to prioritise and support IT‑related initiatives. Support the onboarding and implementation of new products, initiatives, and process improvements. Lead a small operational excellent team to ensure delivery of process improvements. Collaborate closely with Data & Analytics to enhance reporting that drives performance and value.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience Demonstrable experience within Insurance, ideally Underwriting Operations with a focus on optimisation and process improvement. Strong knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement, and OPEX methodologies. Excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities at all organisational levels. Analytical acumen with strong problem‑solving skills and intellectual curiosity. Thorough understanding of insurance operational practices and applicable regulatory requirements. Ability to plan, manage, and prioritise multiple responsibilities effectively.
