What you will do

- Own and develop risk policies, playbooks, standards and supporting tools, ensuring risk practices are clearly defined, understood and embedded across the organisation.
- Lead risk advisory and risk assurance activity, supporting the definition of risk appetite and providing independent challenge, oversight and assurance.
- Set the strategic direction for the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) platform, overseeing implementation, adoption and continuous optimisation across all business areas.
- Act as a trusted senior risk adviser to the Board, Executive Team, governance committees and relevant client or trustee stakeholders.
- Provide expert risk oversight for strategic initiatives, business change and new propositions, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and managed within appetite.
- Define and oversee risk reporting and Key Risk Indicator frameworks, delivering timely and forward-looking insight on current and emerging risks.
- Design and operate service assurance frameworks with internal teams and third-party providers, establishing robust controls and independently auditable assurance arrangements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
