I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Developing Great Chefs
A key part of the role will be developing our future culinary talent.
You will support the induction and development of new Head Chefs and Sous Chefs, coach Commis Chefs and Chef de Parties through the ranks, and deliver both structured training programmes and hands-on coaching within our kitchens.
You'll be equally comfortable running an off-site training workshop as you are standing beside a chef during a busy service, helping them improve their skills and confidence.
A Hands-On Operations Role
This is not an office-based position.
We are looking for a chef who leads from the front, is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and stepping into any of our kitchens when support is needed. Whether covering absence, supporting a new opening, coaching a team through a busy weekend or helping deliver service during peak trading periods, you'll be a visible and hands-on presence in our business.
You'll spend your time in chef whites, supporting frontline teams, coaching and developing chefs at every level and helping ensure our kitchens are safe, compliant, profitable and consistently delivering exceptional food experiences.
To truly understand our guest journey and support our teams when it matters most, you'll regularly work across all key dayparts. That means being present for early morning breakfasts, busy lunch services, late-night Friday and Saturday trading and, of course, the perfect Sunday roast. We believe standards are built and maintained during peak trading periods, so you'll be highly visible in our kitchens when the business is at its busiest, providing hands-on support, coaching and leadership.

We are looking for a true operations chef who gains satisfaction from seeing a service run flawlessly, developing great people and delivering exceptional food experiences for our guests.
What We're Looking For
