An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join a leading national distribution operation at one of its flagship UK facilities.
This is a high-profile leadership role within a fast-paced, complex logistics environment, offering responsibility for the Goods In function across a semi-automated distribution centre spanning approximately 750,000 sq. ft. and employing over 520 colleagues.
This role would suit an ambitious operational leader from a large-scale distribution, fulfilment or 3PL environment who thrives under pressure, enjoys leading large teams, and has a passion for driving performance, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The Opportunity
Reporting into the senior site leadership team, you will be responsible for leading all inbound operations, ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective receipt, processing and flow of goods through the distribution centre.
You will play a key role in delivering operational performance, developing leadership capability across your management team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support a growing and evolving operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a large operational team across Goods In and associated inbound functions.
- Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, service, quality and productivity.
- Deliver KPI targets across productivity, accuracy, stock integrity and operational efficiency.
- Manage labour planning and resource allocation within a large and complex operation.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance and reduce waste.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth end-to-end operational flow.
- Champion health & safety, compliance and best practice across the operation.
- Support the ongoing development of automation and process optimisation initiatives.
- Coach, mentor and develop frontline managers and operational leaders.

About You
We are looking for a proven operational leader who can demonstrate experience operating within a large-scale, high-volume distribution environment.
You will ideally have:
- Senior management experience within a 3PL, logistics, warehousing or fulfilment operation.
- Experience leading large teams within a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to engage, motivate and develop teams.
- A track record of delivering operational improvements and driving performance.
- Experience working within automated or semi-automated warehouse operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Lean, Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma experience/certification (desirable).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
