Senior Operations Manager – Global B2B Events / Aviation Ground Handling
Location: Hybrid (Dartford near Bluewater), 3 days in-office (Permanent, Full-Time) Salary: £45,000 (with benefits contingent on experience)
About the Role
As Senior Operations Manager, you’ll drive the successful execution of high-quality global B2B events across Ground Handling International’s portfolio, including the GHI Conferences and GSE Expo Europe.
This role offers:

Key Responsibilities
Event Delivery & Operations
- Lead end-to-end operational execution of all GHI events globally, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and high-quality delivery.
- Act as the senior operations decision-maker onsite, coordinating seamless event execution.
- Oversee technical, logistical, and supplier coordination for smooth event delivery.
- Manage budgets and reconcile costs while negotiating with suppliers to maximise value without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with Sales to optimise floorplans and support revenue growth.
- Contribute to post-event reporting, analysing performance metrics and identifying improvement opportunities.

Team Leadership & Management
- Assess operational priorities across the portfolio and translate them into actionable delivery plans.
- Accountable for budgets, supplier performance, and event-standard adherence.
- Line-manage one direct report, while fostering a supportive team culture.
- Ensure health and safety, compliance, and risk management across international events.
Core Skills & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
✅ Proven operational experience in delivering B2B conferences and exhibitions end-to-end. ✅ Strong ability to lead in high-pressure, live event environments with decisive judgement. ✅ Experience managing budgets, costs, and supplier negotiations with a commercial mindset. ✅ Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. ✅ Methodical, detail-oriented, and proactive—with a commitment to quality execution. ✅ Ability to adapt rapidly to complex logistical challenges.
Preferred Experience ("Nice-to-Haves")
🔹 5+ years’ experience in B2B event or exhibition operations. 🔹 Experience with international events and multi-site logistics. 🔹 Knowledge of specialist sectors (aviation, transport, logistics, or another B2B niche). 🔹 Commercial alignment with floorplan optimisation and revenue generation. 🔹 Experience in signage production and event supplier management.
