We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Operations Manager, supporting the Chief Technology Office Infrastructure organisation (CTOi).
CTOi manages technology services and infrastructure critical to HSBC employees and customers, including compute platforms, storage, databases, data centres, voice, video and data networks, infrastructure security, cloud-hosted infrastructure, and end-user services (including devices, collaboration and workspace technologies). The annual operating budget is approximately $2bn, with an overall workforce of circa 9k roles and around 600 vendors.

In this role, you will support the CTOi Operations Director by leading operations and strategic finance, workforce, vendor and optimisation initiatives. You will deliver measurable outcomes in cost reduction, simplification, consolidation and strategic delivery, working in close partnership with Technology, COO, Procurement, Finance, Architecture and Risk teams.
In This Role You Will
- Develop business cases to support delivery of strategic objectives
- Define and execute long-term strategies for major vendors, commercial optimisation and infrastructure simplification
- Provide clear executive reporting, decision support and risk insight to enable timely sponsor and senior-leader decisions
- Lead optimisation planning and execution, ensuring alignment with CTO strategy, target architecture, and operational priorities
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
- Proven experience driving operational performance and commercial optimisation across finance, workforce and vendor management
- Experience managing complex and large vendor service arrangements, including T&M, managed services, hardware and software, with experience managing $50m+ contracts
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with ability to build effective partnerships across Technology, Procurement, Finance, Risk and Operations
- Ability to communicate complex technical and commercial topics clearly and concisely to all levels, including senior leadership
- Track record in technology vendor and/or operations management, ideally within financial services or a large multinational environment
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including accounting fundamentals
- Highly analytical and outcome-focused, able to synthesise complex information and make data-driven decisions
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational risk and deliver under pressure in a fast-changing environment
