Purpose of the Role

The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving daily Soft Services FM operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and compliance with company policies and procedures. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to drive business growth and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operations management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to implement effective processes and strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership:

    • Manage and streamline business processes to optimise productivity and efficiency.
    • Develop and implement strategies to meet organisational goals and objectives.
    • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to support business needs.
  • Team Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, training, and coaching programmes.
    • Foster a culture of trust, accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Process Improvement:

    • Identify areas for operational improvement and implement process enhancements.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when necessary.
    • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.

  • Project Management:

    • Lead cross-functional projects to drive operational excellence.
    • Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure project success.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and remove roadblocks.
  • Customer and Supply Partner Relations:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and partners.
    • Oversee contracts, negotiations, and service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Address customer concerns and implement solutions to improve satisfaction.
    • Support with re-tendering contracts when required.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
    • Conduct audits and assessments to identify and resolve vulnerabilities.
  • Finance:

    • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
    • Monitor financial performance and identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
    • Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and analysis of financial data as part of the monthly BvA process.
  • Other Requirements:

    • Occasional evening and weekend work as required by the business.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience in the provision of multi-stream Soft FM Services to a busy environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Management of multi-million-pound FM contracts.
  • Project management.
  • Knowledge and experience of managing services within an agreed budget.
  • Able to work on own initiative and meet tight deadlines, organised.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to working patterns to respond to the changing needs of a mixed-use, 24/7, 365 business.
  • Ability to cope in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and use of initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills and prioritisation.
  • Technical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Confident and inspiring.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualified. (Preferred).

Working Hours

9am – 5.30pm, Monday to Friday (37.5hrs).

Salary

£55,000 to £65,000 dependant on experience.
