About the Role
40 million people wear spectacles in the UK alone, but the optical industry hasn’t changed enough in three centuries. Products are tired, standards are mediocre, and the experience is dull. We’re going to change that, and build the world’s most innovative and customer-centric spectacles company. Equally important is building an equitable and diverse workforce with the goal of building an inclusive culture with opportunities for all.
To help us deliver on that ambition, we’re looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Senior Optical Associate to lead by example in delivering exceptional service and creating memorable experiences for every customer. You’ll combine expert optical and product knowledge with a warm, engaging approach, guiding customers through frame and lens selections while sharing our brand story and values. As a senior member of the team, you’ll take a proactive role in supporting the smooth running of the store and problem-solving efforts. Providing hands-on guidance to junior team members, and supporting the management team you’ll champion a positive, collaborative environment.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional service at every stage of the customer journey that is underpinned by our customer experience non-negotiables.
- Educate and inspire colleagues and customers alike about Cubitts’ brand story, mission, and values.
- Provide expert advice on frame and lens selection, tailoring recommendations to each customer’s unique needs.
- Accurately dispense prescription and non-prescription lenses, explaining lens options with technical clarity and confidence.
- Perform a full range of adjustments, services, and repairs, to ensure the perfect fit for every customer.
- Be an expert in our Made to Measure service, accurately placing orders using the Cubitts App and Studio.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve product or optical issues, delivering customer-first solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organised store environment, ensuring displays and stock are well-presented.
- Follow GDPR and patient confidentiality guidelines at all times, maintaining trust and professionalism.
- Collaborate closely with your team and other departments to drive a supportive, team-oriented culture.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
