Senior Optical Engineer – Quantum Technology
Location: Oxford, Oxfordshire – Hybrid Salary: Up to £75,000 per annum
An innovative quantum technology company is looking for a Senior Optical Engineer to design, develop and test advanced optical systems for quantum computing and sensing applications.
You’ll lead projects from initial requirements and optical design through to assembly, precision alignment, testing and validation. Working alongside physicists and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you’ll develop systems covering free-space optics, fibre optics, laser distribution, modulation, imaging and beam delivery.

Key Requirements:
- Strong experience in optical engineering, design and integration
- Expertise in free-space and fibre-optic systems
- Hands-on laser system assembly and precision optical alignment
- Experience with optical simulation software such as Zemax
- Knowledge of beam quality, aberration minimisation and tolerance analysis
- Experience testing and characterising complex optical systems
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics or a related discipline

Experience in quantum technology is advantageous but not essential. Candidates from photonics, laser systems, scientific instrumentation, aerospace, defence or other advanced technology environments are encouraged to apply.
