WSP’s Circular Economy & Waste Advisory team is responsible for a broad scope of advisory services relating to the sustainable management of resources and waste. This includes a strong track record of providing technical advice to waste infrastructure schemes, from procurement technical advice to construction supervision.
Our team continues to enhance our market leading position in procurement support and technical advisory projects. We are looking to welcome a senior or principal consulting engineer with previous experience of providing technical advisory support to waste infrastructure developments.
A little more about your role…
- Lead/input to the provision of technical advice relating to waste treatment processes and technologies.
- Manage projects and liaise with clients in the UK and internationally.
- Review process and engineering documents such as P&IDs, PFDs, equipment schedules, design specifications, and mass/energy balances.
- Produce feasibility and scoping studies and undertake technical due diligence assessments to assist clients in making financial investment decisions
- Produce basis of design documentation and technical specifications.
- Review facilities and technologies and assess compliance with health and safety requirements, legislative requirements, established industry “Best Practice”, user requirements, cost budgets and timescales.
- Manage the work of other junior engineers and provide coaching and mentoring for more junior staff.
- Ensure cross discipline collaboration with other consultants and engineers, both within WSP and with external clients and contractors.
- Lead and manage internal teams in the production of bids, tenders and project work.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate?
Degree qualified engineer with broad technical capabilities in process, mechanical, electrical or other engineering fields.
- Willingness to travel for the delivery of projects.
- Good knowledge of waste treatment processes and technologies, ideally with hands-on experience.
- Remain up to date with waste industry developments, trends, legislation and best practice.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Demonstrable ability to mentor and support the development of junior engineers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and desire to deliver influential consultancy support to the highest standards with new and current clients.
- Ability to communicate concise and accurate technical information in both written and verbal forms.
