Senior Pavement Engineer

Job Description: Senior Engineer – Pavement Engineering & Construction Materials

Company Description

At AECOM, we're delivering a better world. Whether it's improving transportation networks, ensuring reliable energy infrastructure, providing clean water access, or shaping sustainable skylines, our global team of planners, designers, engineers, scientists, and innovators tackles the world’s most complex challenges. With accelerating investment in infrastructure today, AECOM partners with clients to create legacies for future generations.

Join a 50,000-strong global team where bold ideas and professional expertise drive meaningful impact. We welcome your vision—let’s build a better world together.

Start Here. Grow Here.

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our pavement engineering and construction materials team, working across airports, ports, highways, and transport infrastructure.

This role is for engineers with established professional experience, ready to take technical ownership and responsibility within a multidisciplinary environment. Erudite contributors in pavement engineering, construction materials, and related fields—whether as strong generalists (across multiple service areas) or specialists (e.g., airport pavements, design for ports, materials innovation)—are welcome, so long as they demonstrate the requisite level of technical authority.

#### Your Role: key responsibilities

  • Lead technical tasks or small work packages within larger projects, operating with limited supervision.
  • Deliver pavement design, evaluation, back-analysis, and materials assessments independently.
  • Interpret standards, specifications, and client guidance, forming technical conclusions before consulting peers as appropriate.
  • Review, validation, and quality-check work produced by Engineers and Senior Engineers across a project.
  • Contribute to scope definition, fee estimation, and resource discussions through technical input.
  • Support site-based activities, including leading site inspections and resolving technical challenges.
  • Apply engineering judgement when faced with ambiguous technical constraints or portfolio pressures.
  • Drive improvements to technical tools, workflows, and data consistency across projects and teams.

#### Growth & Development at AECOM

Benefit from:

  • Career development via AECOM University, technical networks, and professional volunteering initiatives.
  • Structured mentorship and technical support from senior staff, fostering confidence and expertise.
  • Exposure to diverse projects and sectors, broadening technical adaptability.
  • Chartered status support, including chartered engineering and technician pathways.
  • A supportive technical culture, where specialisation and generalist growth are both encouraged.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
