About The FCA And Team

We regulate financial services firms in the UK, to keep financial markets fair, thriving and effective. By joining us, you’ll play a key part in protecting consumers, driving economic growth, and shaping the future of UK finance services.

SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition).

Sitting in the Payments and Digital Assets directorate, the Market Intervention department supervises and drives regulatory standards in payments and crypto asset firms.

The role of the payments services sector is rapidly becoming increasingly significant to the operation of the UK financial services system and beyond. This role presents an exciting opportunity for personal development and progression in this innovative, fast-expanding and technology-based sector.

Role Responsibilities

  • Getting to understand how regulated firms make their money, assessing the risks this presents to their customers and the markets in which they operate and determining how the firms manage these risks to stop customers being harmed, for example through the loss of their money
  • Assessing regulated firms’ compliance against the relevant rules and requirements
  • Working with senior industry figures to change how they operate if they are not meeting the rules and requirements and in the most severe cases taking regulatory action to stop firms operating their businesses
  • Collaborating effectively and closely with colleagues across the FCA, other regulators and law enforcement agencies both in the UK and internationally

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
