Senior Payroll Administrator – Energy
Location: Coventry / Hybrid

Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity within our Energy business unit for an experienced and customer-focused Senior Payroll Administrator
This is a dual-reporting role into both Payroll and the People Business Partner team, offering you the opportunity to work closely with our operational teams across multiple UK sites.
You will be the primary payroll representative for onsite locations, building strong relationships and providing a high-quality, responsive payroll service to colleagues and site leadership teams.
About the role:
As a Payroll Advisor, you will:
- Act as the primary payroll representative for multiple onsite locations, maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, site management and HR teams
- Deliver a high-quality, customer-focused payroll service for both weekly and monthly paid employees, with an emphasis on first-time resolution
- Process payroll accurately and on time as part of the wider team (circa 4,000 monthly and 300 weekly employees)
- Proactively resolve site-based payroll issues, escalating complex matters where appropriate
- Provide clear guidance and support to site administration teams on payroll processes, continuously reviewing and improving ways of working
- Attend sites across the UK on payday to provide face-to-face payroll support and advice
- Run drop-in sessions to support employees with payroll queries and guidance
- Collaborate with Payroll and People teams to ensure a seamless and compliant payroll service

About you:
You will be a payroll professional with strong technical knowledge and a proactive, customer-focused approach, with the following:
- Good working knowledge of payroll processing procedures and relevant legislation
- Strong Excel skills and good systems capability (experience with MHR desirable)
- Good technical knowledge of pensions, including auto-enrolment regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external partners and operational site teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex payroll queries
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
