Our partner is looking for a Senior Payroll Implementation Specialist - NL & Belgium based in United Kingdom.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to lead complex payroll implementations across the Netherlands and Belgium within a global, remote-first environment. In this role, you will oversee the entire implementation lifecycle, ensuring compliant, accurate, and seamless payroll transitions for international clients. Working closely with customers, payroll experts, software providers, and cross-functional teams, you'll combine deep local expertise with strong project management skills to deliver successful go-lives. You'll also contribute to process improvements, mentor colleagues, and help shape scalable payroll operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving complex payroll challenges, and driving operational excellence in a collaborative, asynchronous workplace.
Accountabilities
- Lead end-to-end payroll implementation projects for the Netherlands and Belgium, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely client onboarding.
- Act as the subject matter expert for local payroll legislation and processes across both Employer of Record (EOR) and Global Payroll services.
- Participate in client discovery sessions, sales handovers, project kick-offs, and implementation planning to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage the full implementation lifecycle, including configuration, payroll data validation, parallel runs, first live payroll, and operational handover.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, payroll software providers, and internal stakeholders throughout each implementation.
- Configure and validate payroll data within payroll systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and business requirements.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, standard operating procedures, implementation plans, and process records.
- Monitor implementation milestones, KPIs, and SLAs while proactively identifying and resolving risks.
- Support continuous process improvements, platform enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and documentation updates.
- Mentor Payroll Generalists and contribute to knowledge sharing across the wider payroll team.

Requirements
- Several years of hands-on payroll experience covering both the Netherlands and Belgium, with strong knowledge of local payroll legislation and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience leading or significantly contributing to end-to-end payroll implementation projects from client onboarding through successful go-live.
- Strong expertise with Dutch payroll software, including AFAS, and familiarity with EasyPay for Belgian payroll is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of payroll reconciliations, parallel payroll runs, payroll validation, and implementation best practices.
- Excellent project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deliver high-quality outcomes on schedule.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain payroll processes, compliance requirements, and technical concepts to clients and internal teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive, with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working independently within a fast-paced, fully remote, asynchronous environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on optimizing processes and leveraging automation where appropriate.
- Professional fluency in English is required; Dutch and/or French language skills are considered a strong advantage.
- Previous experience working remotely and within international payroll environments is beneficial.
