Senior Payroll Manager

We are currently partnering with a well-established, highly recognisable consumer business to recruit an experienced Senior Payroll Manager.

Yes, we're looking for someone with excellent payroll knowledge, strong leadership experience and a solid understanding of UK payroll legislation.

But that's only part of the story.

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people. Someone who builds relationships effortlessly. Who supports and develops their team. Who is approachable, collaborative and trusted by colleagues across the business. Someone who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, get stuck in and lead from the front.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll oversee payroll operations across the business, manage a small team, act as the payroll expert and continuously look for ways to improve processes and the colleague experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
