Senior P&C New Business Underwriter
Regional Underwriting Manager

About the Role
To achieve regional Gross Written Premium (GWP), income, and profit objectives, this position delivers an efficient service to brokers and supports the management of the regional account. This aligns with the regional strategy, financial plan, and personal objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve profitability, growth, and expense targets by operating in accordance with key regional performance indicators.
- Underwrite renewals and mid-term adjustments up to the defined authority and binder limits, reflecting knowledge, experience, and qualifications.
- Invest in broker relationships, establishing and sustaining strong connections with regional key directors and decision-makers.
- Contribute toward annual GWP, income targets, Target Loss ratios, and premium rate benchmarks.
- Ensure survey requests, policy documentation, and overview submissions meet internal reporting standards.
- Conduct regular technical case reviews to uphold procedural and quality assurance (QA) standards.
- Share market intelligence and technical insights with the Regional Director and broader team.
- Keep abreast of emerging industry challenges while maintaining collaborative ties with claims and survey teams.

Role Requirements & Skills
Skills & Competencies
- Proven underwriting experience within Commercial Insurance (minimum 3 years’ direct experience in underwriting or broking).
- Demonstrated ability in broker account management, development, and profitability strategies.
- Expert negotiator: effectively manage risk portfolios while aligning underwriting decisions with premium objectives.
- Ability to write and administer complex cases independently within set limits.
- Strong sales and relationship-building skills; aptitude for influencing clients and internal stakeholders.
- Sharp risk selection and appraisal to minimise adverse claims and financial risk.
- Insightful asset-pricing to reflect current market conditions.
- Experience collaborating across functions (e.g., claims, survey, underwriting) to optimise business outcomes.

Qualifications
- One of the following preferred:
- Cert CII
- Dip CII (Diploma in Insurance Studies)
- Progress toward qualifications in this field
Experience
Eligible candidates must bring at least three years in Commercial Underwriting, showcasing:
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strategic problem-solving in a structured, results-driven environment.
