Senior Pensions Technician
Home Based or Hybrid (Home/Liverpool)
We are looking for a Senior Pensions Technician to join a new team in the Consulting business of Capita Pensions Solutions and support the CSPS contract.
The Consulting division was created to better enable us to fulfill the long-term strategic objectives of our business and to empower us to better excite our clients and provide them, and their members, with better outcomes.
We are continuously looking to improve the services and products we provide to our clients, with a focus on people and the use of technology to achieve this goal. This positions us, and you, to be at the forefront of a rapidly growing and advancing organisation and industry.
The team you will be joining collects, organises and evaluates data from across the business to make informed decisions and improve business insight. You will be working on projects to support and manage data deliverables. These projects can include calculations, rectifications and mailings.
You will have experience of working on a variety of DB pension schemes with the ability to lead on the delivery of assigned data projects and schemes. This role is perfect if you are an existing Pensions Technician looking to work within a project-based data role.
This role requires enhanced security clearance, the details of which are contained in the following link. One of the main factors is a minimum 5 years’ UK residency - please only apply if you have this.

Key responsibilities
- To work with the Pensions Technicians and a Lead Pensions Technician to work on complex case work and pensions data projects, identifying time scales, deliverables, quality, through to sign off and driving the planning process through effective action planning
- To take ownership of the accuracy and quality of their own work and the Technicians they support
- To complete checking of work to ensure accuracy is maintained and provide feedback to Pension Technicians
- Work with colleagues and stakeholders in the delivery of cyclical activities and projects, identifying time scales, deliverables, quality, through to sign off, driving the planning process through effective action planning
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of processes, procedures and products
- Build, maintain and enhance individual and team competence in order to improve delivery
- Regularly review the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and controls and make suggestions to continually enhance service delivery, improve processes and reduce potential complaints and business risks

Essential
What we’re looking for
- DB pensions experience including manual pensions calculations and complex case work
- Excel
- Demonstrate the ability to use filters, sorting, pivot tables (rows, columns, grouping, filters and totalling).
- Can use formulas including lookups, IF and nested IF statements, date calculations and formatting of cells to specific guidelines.
- Can import data/text files and use data validation
- Project management skills - ability to understand, and input into project plans
Desirable
- Public Sector pensions experience
