The Role
Joining Lucanet's People & Organisation team as a People Operations and Automation Engineer - this role will be crucial in accelerating our department's journey towards an AI-enabled target operating model. The role will focus on delivering an ambitious roadmap spanning multiple workstreams, with the mission of reducing manual transactional tasks, allowing our team to focus on high-impact activities that deliver real value for our internal customers. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in People Operations (and/or other HR functions) paired with a proven track record of automating complex processes and building HR tools with AI. This role sits perfectly at the intersection of HR and AI technical skills, requiring hands-on proficiency with tools like Claude, OpenAI, MS Copilot, n8n and others.
What you'll do
- Provide hands-on expertise in People Operations processes combined with advanced proficiency in AI and automation tools (Claude, Copilot, n8n, and similar), integrating these for workflow optimisation and innovation across the employee lifecycle
- Full mastery of end-to-end people processes, from onboarding to offboarding, performance management, and data governance, with the judgement to identify and prioritise the highest-value automation opportunities
- Drive the automation roadmap for People Operations delivering an ambitious programme spanning multiple workstreams with department-wide implications
- Create measurable improvements in internal stakeholder and candidate experience through optimised, AI-enabled processes
- Act as the bridge between People Operations and IT, managing complex technical stakeholder relationships to scope and integrate automation solutions
- Partners with the leadership team to shape the automation roadmap
- Take on team coordination and project delivery responsibilities

What you bring to the table
- Significant experience working in People Operations with direct, hands-on ownership of operational processes or project delivery
- Track record of leading cross-functional projects independently, end to end
- Experience using key people systems, such as HRIS and ATS platforms, to automate core people operations processes. Prior working experience with HiBob and Greenhouse is a plus.
- Comfortable managing and prioritising incoming requests through a structured ticketing workflow (e.g. Jira)
- Demonstrates ability to build AI tools or agents, with clear evidence of embedding AI into key workflows and processes
- Able to independently design, build, and test production-grade automations without engineering support (e.g. using tools such as n8n or Power Automate)
- Understands how systems exchange data well enough to connect them and troubleshoot integrations
- Able to spot a recurring pain point and turn it into a tool or automation that gets genuinely adopted
- Clear and precise written and spoken English; additional European languages are an advantage
