Pathways Through Care Service – supporting Southampton’s children in care and care experienced young people.

An exciting opportunity for a permanent Senior Personal Advisor post has become available within the Pathways Through Care Service.

Southampton Children’s Services were inspected by Ofsted in June 2023 and all services were rated to be Good with Outstanding Leadership and Management; an outcome we are extremely proud of! Never has there been a better time to join an organisation that is good across all areas and remains committed to continuing on its journey of improvement. Ofsted said that ‘impressive strategic and operational leadership, aligned with corporate and political commitment, has provided a clear vision, ambition and energy which has garnered the confidence and commitment of key partners. There is a collective momentum to continue to improve services and outcomes for children across the city’. (Ofsted June 2023)

We are looking for a committed, experienced and enthusiastic team member to join our leaving care service to provide support to the team manager and promote excellent practice within the team. We support care experienced young people aged 16-25 as they make the transition into adulthood.

The Leaving Care Service has good links with partner agencies and we have a strong corporate parenting strategy to give our care experienced young adults the best opportunities and support we can offer. You will need energy and empathy to offer the support our young people need to reach their potential and have aspirations for their futures.

You will have a good grasp of the relevant legislation for care leavers and experience of working with older children and young people, with a clear understanding of the impact of trauma and the need for high quality, committed relationships that provide security for young people at one of the most critical and vulnerable times in their lives. We are working within a Systemic Practice framework and you will benefit from reflective supervision and strong management support.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
