What you’ll do
As Senior Personal Assistant to the Group External Affairs Director, this role plays a key part in enabling senior leadership effectiveness through proactive, high-quality and confidential support. It sits at the heart of the External Affairs function, supporting the ExCo member, Senior Leadership Team and Front Office, while acting as a role model across the wider PA community.
The role requires a strong understanding of leadership priorities, ensuring alignment with the ExCo member’s goals and supporting their successful delivery through structured planning, coordination and execution. You will:
- Deliver high-quality, proactive and professional support in a fast-paced environment, building strong relationships with cross-functional partners and administrative networks across the CEO Office, Group and Local Markets.
- Manage complex diaries and calendars, applying sound judgement to prioritisation and ensuring optimal scheduling and time management.
- Ensure the ExCo member is fully prepared for all engagements, including agenda setting, preparation of pre-reads and tracking of follow-up actions, working closely with the Business Manager.
- Oversee core operational processes, including travel arrangements, approvals, expenses, purchasing orders and budget tracking, ensuring accuracy and efficiency across the team.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior government offices, ensuring professional and effective communication at the highest level.
- Lead the coordination of leadership team meetings, events, forums and conferences, including logistics such as travel, accommodation and catering.
- Communicate complex and often confidential information with clarity and discretion, demonstrating strong diplomacy and professionalism.
- Act as a key point of contact on behalf of the ExCo member for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders and government representatives.
- Provide guidance and informal support to new team members and contribute to the wider PA community.

Who you are
You combine a proactive mindset with strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to build lasting relationships, anticipate needs and deliver with confidence and discretion.
- Strong business partnering skills, with the ability to understand priorities, identify key stakeholders and build sustainable relationships that support business outcomes.
- A strong sense of ownership, proactively addressing challenges, investigating root causes and identifying effective solutions.
- Resilient and adaptable, maintaining a positive approach and learning from experience in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent organisational capability, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, stakeholders and priorities simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating tact and diplomacy, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential matters.
- Board or ExCo-level PA experience, with a strong understanding of senior leadership environments.
- Outstanding organisational and planning skills, with attention to detail.
- High level of flexibility, adapting quickly to changing priorities and demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including strong PowerPoint capability.
