Senior PGC Rotating Equipment Engineer

THE OPPORTUNITY – SENIOR PGC ROTATING EQUIPMENT ENGINEER Provides high-quality rotating equipment engineering support ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub Product Gas Compressors (PGCs). Location: Barrow-in-Furness Duration: 2-year contract Contract Type: PAYE Day Rate: TBC - For your application to be progressed, please ensure you provide a PAYE day rate banding expectation. Please note that there is no travel and accommodation allowance provided. Please only apply if you have existing right-to-work in the UK. Please outline notice period/availability to start. Spirit Energy currently have a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement for all office-based workers. 4 days must be worked in the office with compulsory days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The fourth day worked in-office (either Monday or Friday) is of the worker’s choosing but should be in keeping with what is most efficient and effective for their team. The office is open 5 days a week for full time, in-office working if this is the contractor’s preference. AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT… In role, you will be required to: Provide rotating equipment engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Morecambe Hub PGCs Support and optimise preventive and predictive maintenance strategies in collaboration with maintenance and operations teams. Support asset operations by troubleshooting equipment issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (ASME, API, ISO, local regulations, company standards). Support inspection, testing, and condition monitoring programs to maintain asset integrity and extend equipment life. Provide technical input to capital projects and modifications, including specifications, design reviews, and commissioning activities. Review and approve rotating equipment work scopes, job packs, and method statements for execution. Oversee contractors and vendors, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to technical and contractual requirements. Support turn-round, commissioning, and start-up activities as required Participate in safety studies and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZIDs, LOPA) and implement safeguards and improvements. Support change management processes by assessing impacts of operational or design changes. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and operating/maintenance procedures. ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, we are looking for: Educated to degree level, ideally MEng in Mechanical Engineering Chartered Engineer preferable Proven experience with onshore and offshore oil and gas operations, maintenance, and asset integrity practices. Strong knowledge of rotating equipment used in oil and gas production facilities. Deep expertise in reciprocating gas engines and compressors Maintenance strategies and reliability engineering Offshore safety case and permit-to-work systems Industry standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV where applicable) In addition to technical knowledge and credibility, we are looking for someone who lives our values - Agility, Collaboration, Courage, Care, and Delivery.
