Senior Pharmacist: Plymouth
- Salary: £31,800 per year (pro-rata)
- Permanent: 22.5 hours per week

What you'll be doing
Role
In this senior role, you will contribute to the safe, effective and patient-focused delivery of pharmacy services across a range of elective specialities, including:
- Orthopaedics
- Ophthalmology
- General Surgery
- Endoscopy
You will play a key part in supporting and enhancing clinical pharmacy services within our outpatient department, day surgery unit, inpatient ward and operating theatres. Working alongside a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team, you’ll help ensure our patients receive exceptional care throughout their treatment journey.
As a Senior Pharmacist, you will also take on important leadership and operational responsibilities, including:
- Supporting the Head of Department / Site Lead Pharmacist in the day-to-day management of the pharmacy service
- Contributing to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives
- Providing guidance, supervision and mentorship to junior pharmacists, technicians and support staff
- Assisting with operational decision-making, workflow planning and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
What we'll look for in you
Education & Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Pharmacy
- Current registered with GPhC.
Previous Experience

- Ability to work unsupervised
- Experience in working directly with clinicians, the wider multidisciplinary team, patients and the public
- Minimum of 3 years post registration experience of hospital or community pharmacy practice.
- Experience of applying clinical reasoning skills to a range of complex and varied patient requirements
Skills And Knowledge
- Broad knowledge of therapeutics and application to clinical practice.
- Evidence of ability to appropriately recommend, substantiate and communicate therapeutic options to patients and healthcare staff
- Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and future direction of travel
- Sound knowledge of national clinical guidelines (e.g. N.I.C.E.) relating to specialty for pharmacy practice
- Good knowledge of the medicine’s safety, risk management and governance agenda and its application to the clinical role
- Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit
