The Role
Are you an experienced pharmacist looking to make a meaningful impact on patient care across primary care services? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a motivated and clinically focused Senior Pharmacist (Primary Care) to join our Pharmacy and Prescribing Support Unit. This is an exciting opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner, supporting safe, effective and person-centred use of medicines while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across primary care settings. You'll play a key role in improving health outcomes for patients, influencing prescribing practice and driving service development. All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Full-time, Permanent
- You will be based at HSCP/Sector Headquarters - Rowan Park Business Centre G51 3RR
- Working Pattern: Monday - Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy services and independent prescribing support to patients within GP practices and primary care settings
- Undertake comprehensive medication reviews for patients with complex, long-term and multiple health conditions
- Deliver expert advice to GPs and multidisciplinary teams on safe, effective and cost-conscious prescribing
- Support medicines reconciliation and prescription management to ensure continuity of care across healthcare settings
- Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives, audits and service development projects
- Educate, mentor and support healthcare professionals, patients and carers on medicine-related matters
- Promote medicines governance, patient safety and adherence to local and national prescribing guidelines

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification and current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Independent Prescriber qualification or currently working towards achieving this qualification
- Relevant post-registration experience with demonstrable clinical pharmacy competence
- Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacy practice, medicines legislation and prescribing guidance
- Experience influencing multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality patient-focused care
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning, analytical and organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously
- Experience delivering education, training, audit or quality improvement activity within a healthcare environment
