Senior Philanthropy Manager

Application Deadline: 10 August 2026 Department: Partnerships Employment Type: Full Time Location: Compassion UK Compensation: £45,930 / year

Description

Do you thrive on building meaningful relationships that make a lasting impact?

At Compassion UK & Ireland, we believe every child is made in God's image and has incredible potential. As Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will play a key role in connecting passionate supporters with opportunities to transform the lives of children living in poverty.

Working as part of our Philanthropy team, you will develop and steward significant donor relationships, helping supporters engage deeply with our mission and understand the impact of their generosity. Through thoughtful relationship management, strategic planning, and inspiring communication, you will help cultivate long-term partnerships that enable Compassion's ministry to flourish.

This is a role for someone who enjoys working with people, listening well, identifying opportunities, and creating meaningful connections that lead to lasting impact.

If you are a relationship-focused fundraiser who is motivated by faith and excited by the opportunity to serve supporters with excellence, we would love to hear from you.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Build and grow strong relationships with major supporters and prospective philanthropists.
  • Create and deliver tailored engagement plans that deepen supporter partnerships and inspire generosity.
  • Identify opportunities for significant gifts and strategic donor engagement.
  • Work collaboratively across Compassion UK & Ireland to connect supporters with meaningful ministry opportunities.
  • Help secure income that enables more children to be released from poverty in Jesus' name.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring:

  • Experience managing and developing significant donor or philanthropic relationships.
  • A track record of building trust and influencing others through strong relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • The ability to think strategically while delivering excellent supporter experiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly for donor meetings, cultivation activity, team meetings, and key organizational events, with a full valid driving license and access to a car for work-related travel.
  • Personally committed to the Christian faith. You can read more about this in our Policy on Posts to be Held by Christians.
  • Please review the attached full job description.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Assessment tasks

As part of the recruitment process, if you are invited to interview, you will be asked to complete assessment activities designed to reflect elements of the role.

Full instructions and supporting information will be provided in advance of each stage. We want candidates to feel prepared and able to demonstrate their thinking, judgement, and approach, rather than spend extensive time preparing detailed submissions.

For planning purposes:

  • The first-round interview will include a practical supporter engagement scenario that you will be asked to consider in advance.
  • Candidates progressing to the second round will be asked to prepare a short presentation.

As there is a relatively short period between the first and second interview stages, we have intentionally designed the assessment activities to require a reasonable level of preparation and not a significant time commitment.

These activities help our panel gain a fuller understanding of your approach, experience, and suitability for the role.

What we offer in return
