Senior Photographer – Cruise Line
Position Summary
The Senior Photographer is responsible for capturing exceptional, high-quality photographs of guests throughout the cruise experience, including portraits, events, embarkation, and destination activities.
This role serves as a team leader within the photography department:
- Mentor junior photographers
- Ensure company photography standards are maintained
- Assist with daily operational planning
- Deliver outstanding guest service while creating memorable experiences through professional and engaging photography onboard.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture unique photo memories at sea in alignment with the company’s brand and customer service standards.
- Ensure adherence to financial performance budgets.
- Enhance passenger satisfaction by providing a positive first impression through photography services.
- Execute marketing strategies, events, and visual directives onboard.
- Act as Master Photographer or Premium Studio Photographer as required by operational needs.
- Support the PhotoStudio programme (premium by-appointment photography service) when assigned.
- Conduct portrait photography, viewing sessions, and sales sessions.
- Sell photo images and packages.
- Collaborate with the Photo team to drive bookings and manage scheduling.
- Use post-production software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom) to enhance images.
- Work with the Photo Manager to meet sales-target goals.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Technical Proficiency
- Extensive experience using lighting equipment (e.g., strobes, soft boxes, umbrellas, flash attachments).
- Strong understanding of digital camera operations, including use of tripods and lenses.
- Hands-on experience manipulating backdrops and props.
- Proficiency in photography post-production software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, or equivalent).

Soft Skills
- Solid interpersonal skills: Ability to interact comfortably with people of all ages and backgrounds, including children.
- Clear communication: Provide easy-to-understand instructions to subjects.
- Outstanding social skills: Deliver friendly, professional guest service.
Non-Negotiable Requirements
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in studio photography.
- Prior experience as a cruise ship photographer.
- Must submit a portfolio to demonstrate work quality.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
Highly Preferred
- A Bachelor’s degree in Photography or related field.
Contract Details
- 6/2 rotation schedule: Consecutive 6-month onboard assignments followed by 2 months of vacation (repeating).
- Accommodation: Shared cabin with private bathroom facilities.
